Superbowl goodies

I promised a post about superbowl desserts,so here it goes! Carter made this dessert: http://www.kevinandamanda.com/whatsnew/new-recipes/ultimate-chocolate-chip-cookie-n-oreo-fudge-brownie-bar.html

start with a full batch of any cookie dough on the bottom

next a layer of oreos (!!!!!!!!!!)

next a layer of brownie batter (we used from a box)
Unfortunately we don't have any "after" pictures, but go to the website above to see their after pictures. Ours didn't look as good as theirs, but it tasted AMAZING, very heavy, very rich, not something we'll probably make often but good to bring to parties because people things it's really cool :-)

I made Joe's spinach/artichoke dip (I call it Joe's but it's really from allrecipes, its reeeally good, very basic but yummy), and another dessert: homemade girl scout Samoas!!!!  http://bakingbites.com/2009/02/homemade-girl-scout-cookies-samoas-bars/ Unfortunately I don't have any photos. The recipe was easy to follow but had so many steps that it took a long time. I read the comments below and saw that some people had suggestions of how to make the shortbread type cookie base differently, and I took those suggestions. Again, it turned out super  yummy but didn't look as beautiful in the picture on the website. Also the coconut/caramel layer didn't stick to the cookie base very well, so usually after one bit it would fall off. Also messy to eat because the chocolate melts on your fingers as soon as you pick it up. Still, they were soooooo yummy!

Those all look amazing--I love chocolatey desserts. Pinterest is a great place to get ideas for new recipes. Jim made the red pepper basil penne he saw on your page tonight and it was delish!

Yes, actually I got both of these dessert recipes from Pinterest, I forgot to say that! I love the recipe ideas on there. And I'm glad that pene worked out, I actually have never made it but I wanted to, which is why I pinned it. Maybe I'll try it this week?

Awe. Some. Cookie dough, oreos and brownie mix... it seems so brilliant, yet so obvious at the same time. I have got to try that. You seriously just altered my whole outlook on desserts generally... I don't think my life will ever be the same...

P.S. Am I the only person in the world not on/following/using (what's the right term?) Pinterest? That and Twitter... I just don't really understand how either works, and don't feel eager to learn... but based on everyone else's feelings about these things, I must be missing out...

Mary had to convince me about Pinterest. Shannon is on there (we're friends!) so I'm sure she could convince you of all of the greatness.....! Seriously I'm not THAT into it, but the concept is pretty good.

Twitter I'm not into, I don't want people to know THAT much about my life. This blog is enough!! I do have to "tweet" for work though, we just started that.
